THE SECRET TO CONFIDENCE IS PREPARATION

With practice you’ll come to a point of competence. You’ll find yourself accomplishing your goals gracefully and confidently.

It’s then that you’ll do things that you never dreamed you could do. You’ll discover powers you never knew existed. If you’re prepared, you’re able to feel confident.

There can be no great courage when there is no confidence or assurance. Half the battle is in the conviction that you can accomplish what you undertake.

Confidence doesn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the result of constant work and dedication.

To Your Success,
Judy MacEachran

How does this message resonate with you? Does it help you feel more confident about achieving your goals when you know that you are prepared for a presentation or an interview?

Experience helps us posses more confidence in the work we do. This makes our efforts more focused and successful because people naturally gravitate to those who are confident.

Confidence means we have an air of knowledge and understanding that emanates from inside us. It is our experience and knowledge that attracts people to us and makes them want to listen to what we say. Without that attraction, we will actually repel people from us.

Those who do not take the time to educate themselves about their products or services try to cover up that fact by pretending they know. Sometimes this effort works, depending on how charismatic a sales person is and the perception level of the client, yet most of the time people see through the falsehood even though the salesman thinks he is impressing them. Having a false air of confidence actually repels people when they figure it out.

Some people in sales think they cannot admit they don’t know something because it will cause clients to lose respect for them and so they try to “wing it”. However, would it not be wiser to admit they do not know the answer to that question but will find out and get back to them? What makes people lose respect is being manipulated and lied to or conned. They know when one is not being honest about what he or she knows and will respond negatively to the insult.

The reason sales people are NOT trusted is because usually they are committed to selling the pitch, and they don’t tell the truth when they should. The way to win confidence with clients is to show them that we are willing to learn, willing to be teachable, and willing to lead by example. Leading by example means doing the same things they teach. This earns respect and loyalty from clients and cause people to follow them. People follow a person because they know he or she cares about having integrity in personal and business dealings.

I appreciate what Judy MacEachran pointed out in her statement above. She said: “You’ll discover powers you never knew existed. If you’re prepared, you’re able to feel confident…There can be no great courage when there is no confidence or assurance. Half the battle is in the conviction that you can accomplish what you undertake.”

The point that half the battle is in the conviction that we know what we know from preparation, planning, education and experience. Nothing else will attract to us the things we want and are important to us.

You do n0t need to know everything before you start talking to people, but you do need to have a good understanding of what you are telling people. If you don’t know something, it is perfectly appropriate to say that you don’t know but that you will find out the answer. Finding the answer will give you more confidence in answering that question the next time.

The point is to be transparent and truthful in your personal and business dealings. Do not engage in sales pitches and key phrases, it just turns off people and makes them not want to trust you. The right thing to do is know the facts about your business, educate yourself so you know what you are talking about, and then confidence will attract the rewards you seek.

Starting a Network Marketing Business

Posted by editor

I started a Network Marketing business in 1977, which is when I first learned about the soaring spirit and fulfilling dreams.  Also, I learned that I can change the rules society teaches us: in other words,  (1) go to school (2) get good grades (3) so we can go to college (4) and get a good job.

Society’s rules worked well for most people at that time, only because it wasn’t taught in school or by our parents. Most of them didn’t realize that there is another way to be successful.  Most people didn’t know that we can become successful as an entrepreneur and a business owner as well.

Society needs people to own businesses and provide jobs for those who want to work. Unfortunately, in those days, there was little information available about becoming a business owner or an entrepreneur.

Network Marketing

Network Marketing companies showed people how they could become a business owner and control what happens to them. People learned that they could invest a little money and spare time into a Network Marketing business and that would affect their income and lifestyle more than they could through a job.

Through Network Marketing, we learned that:

  • We can change our stars if we want to;
  • We must follow success principles that reward us with the things we want;
  • We can obtain what’s important to us when we make the commitment to do so;
  • We cannot allow people to keep us in a box that prevent us from becoming who we want to be and obtaining what we feel is important in life;
  • We have the God-given right to be who we feel we need to be;
  • We cannot live our lives through other peoples expectations of us.

Overcoming Obstacles

Family and friends tried to convince me that I could not write a book, they thought I wasn’t smart enough to write a book that people would buy. One son even said that I did not know anything about peace, joy, and happiness. In addition, I was nobody and had no credentials, meaning I had no titles or letters after my name, and I had no accomplishments to impress people. Therefore, I was not credible and no one would pay attention to me and would not buy my book. They worried that, if no one bought my book, I would fail and be devastated by it. Feeling that way just proved that they did not really understand why I was writing the book.

These experiences taught me that we have to go after what we believe we are supposed to do, especially when everyone close to us says we cannot do it. In my case, however, people did buy my books. I did not fail because I made the decision that “I Will Not Be Denied My Destiny“.

I completed the book anyway, in spite of the teasing I took from friends and family, and published another book after that. Instead of giving up, I followed through with the publishing and I am pleased that I did.

Many readers told me that the book helped them overcome problems they have not been able to resolve until they read the book. One woman said that I understood her better than anyone else has throughout her entire life. Another said he learned more in the first ten pages of the book than he has from all the other books he has ever read. He said I had a natural gift to mirror life in general.

People were able to get through their problems and make their lives better. That was a blessing to me. Tell me, “How is this not being successful?” I may not have become rich and self-sufficient from the sale of any of my books, but knowing that I have helped improve someone’s life is more rewarding than anything. It is the most amazing feeling inside when you know you have done something that gives value such as this to people.

Definately an eye opener. Thanks. Do you have any plans to follow up on this post. I hope that others will see this and contributeas well. Any time I come accross quality information like this I like give credit where it is due. I’ve already bookmarked this so I don’t have to wade through all the other sites. Believe me I’ve been at this for a week :) http://felixgreenpct.insanejournal.com/

Howdy, nice day! Your work is quite striking. I never thought that it was possible to carry out something like that until after I read your post. You certainly offered an excellent understanding on how this kind of whole process works. I’ll always visit for more advice. Keep it up! http://www.electronicmegastore.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2951;sa=summary

I was studying something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your position on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read to begin with. I am still mulling over the different points of view, but I’m inclined to a great extent toward yours. And irrespective, that’s what is so great about modern democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line. http://www.rugbyworldusa.com/

Hi. Real good information on MLM Leads. I saw your nice blog while exploring bing. For the previous few days I’ve been attempting to find more. Particularly anything to do with the actual lead generation or companies making them. I’ve witnessed it all and my neighbor continues promoting her recent lead system craze on me. So I’m happy I encountered you. Bye!   http://www.bigactionmedia.net/

Thank you for the sound critique. Me and my neighbor were just setting up to do some research about this. I am very glad to see such great info being shared freely out there.       http://www.octagonpicnictables.com/The-Plastic-Storage-Bench/

I’ve been in network marketing since 1977, and I’ve seen successes and failures; it seems to be “the nature

Let Me Put On My Expert Glasses

of the beast” for network marketing.

I’ve also seen a lot of so-called experts who don’t really understand the important principles to being successful. The problem is they may succeed in gathering names but that’s it! They don’t have people skills, especially when their goal is to make money and they could care less about what the people want when they contact them.

There are too many people like this out in the field of Network Marketing. I will NOT do business this way. Using this approach may be successful to a point but it is only short-lived. I appreciate the comment that sparked my thoughts for this posting. Thank you for all of your comments.

Gathering leads is a subject most MLMs are interested in learning more about. I suggest you get yourself on wordpress and set up your own blog or contact me and let me give you some advice about a better way to do it; seriously, call me.

Write some articles that represent your business and your honest feelings about why you are doing it. Tell people you would appreciate them giving you their contact address so you can send them information about your business. Pledge that you will NOT spam them and that you will respect their privacy. Some people still won’t trust you but some will, especially if they are connecting with you through your blog.

The important thing to remember is that being sincere and honest in everything that represents you is extremely important. People will begin to trust you when they know that you do what you say you will do. Now that I’ve said this and you do write an article, give me the link and I will promote you.

Keep up the comments and tell me about your experiences and the areas you’ve done well in and the areas that need help.  Thanks again for being so forthright in your comments. It’s okay if you don’t agree with me, I want to hear that too and why you don’t agree.
