We can give up and succumb to the pressure of our times or we can find a positive way to handle the events taking place around us.

Attitude and life events affect the habits we develop and what we get back from life.

Attitude

A healthy attitude makes a huge difference in our ability to make wise decisions, affecting how proactive we are making our own decisions, and affecting how we engage in life.

  • Attitude affects whether we live in default or sit in the driver’s seat of life. Sitting in the driver’s seat means we are making our own decisions instead of waiting for something to happen and then let it drag us down.

Living in default means that, instead of realizing life sometimes hands out doses of misfortune to everyone and we are no different or think we are singled out for some reason, we just throw up our hands and give up!

  • The truth is attitude affects how we accept the lessons we are supposed to learn from a situation and if we see a blessing or not in that experience.
  • When something bad happens to us, a bad attitude sends us to the same place we always go to when we don’t like what life dishes out to us: being angry with God, our parents, our employers or anyone we think has it better than us.

Responding Appropriately

This blog is meant to help you appreciate that the world we live in can be a blessing when we know how to respond appropriately instead of reacting in default.

Being Proactive

It’s a matter of being proactive in our choices, engaging in events that require our attention, and sitting in life’s driver’s seat instead of letting things come at us and then react out of emotions, ego, or in default because we know of no other way to respond.

We Can Do It Together

Let us work closely together so we can support each other and be affective in our efforts to protect what matters to us.

If “what matters” is for you to function in a free society; if “what matters” is to protect your family, friends, and relationships from the fallout that is in a future without freedom, safety, and security; and if “what matters” is having peace of mind, then you need to accept some things you would rather not know or be bothered with and confront what you would rather not face.

What Is Your WHY?

Below is a copy of a message I received on Facebook from a friend. The program she talks about is called “Mentoring For Free”.  Although I have been exposed to their teachings and to their program, I do not agree with some of their teachings. However, what they teach is truly beneficial for people who have not been in the field of Network Marketing for over thirty years as have I, so the information will probably be new to you.

The intense training that I received from International Leadership Development (now known as ILD Global) is the best training on this planet as far as I am concerned. In the absence of ILD, Mentoring for Free does have some value.

I don’t teach Mentoring for Free principles. What I teach comes from ILD training because the focus is on success in life and business by developing internal strength and growth that transcends business goals. In other words, ILD teachings develop characteristics in a person that provide balance in life.

Proof That My Techniques Work

TECHNIQUES THAT WORK

Some of what business coaches teach today are nothing more than just theory, with concepts never tested in the real world.

Rest assured that the techniques I present are personally applied and their efficacy proven through experience. I know these principles work because of my own successes and by the feedback I get from others who have done what I teach them. I have no doubt these techniques can change your life as well as they have mine.

WHY YOU NEED MY HELP

• What I teach may be in condradiction to what your Network Marketing trainers teach. There is a reason for that, so let me explain. What most Network Marketers teach is based on outdated standards. What worked when Network Marketing was hot years ago, does not work well now. In the early days of Multi-Level Marketing, people used the new standards of “word of mouth” to sell products and services. Of course, “Word of Mouth” is the best way to sell, but now it needs something behind the words that convinces people they won’t be scammed.

With the Internet being the vehicle for selling products and services now, it is easier for people to be scammed so you have to work harder to assure people that what you tell them is true and that what they get is going to work for them. You need to know about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Key Words, writing blogs and ads, splash pages with contact information, and much more.

• You need to keep your mind focused squarely on obtaining only those things in your business that hold the most meaning and importance to you in life. These are the type of gems you should be putting in your Life’s Treasure Box. No success can be enjoyed if you have not put in these things first.

Unfortunately, many Network Marketing business trainers give the impression that success is based on money in the bank, nice clothing, nice vehicles and a home, and collecting material things. This is not true success. Anyone can do this if they sacrafice enough. What is much harder to do is to build a successful business by first collecting the treasure in life. I am talking about building relationships with people and giving them value. Would you rather do business with someone you know and can trust or would you want to take a chance on someone you know nothing about?

• What you choose to put in your Life’s Treasure Box will become your greatest asset for achieving real success in life and business, and for having peace in difficult situations. This is one of the most important lessons for any of us to learn. Where do you learn these principles? Does you current business trainer teach you these success principles? Likely, they focus on making money, sponsoring, and convincing people to buy your products and services.  I was privileged in being taught how to live a successful life as well as building a successful business. As a result, I teach these same principles.

• My job is to provide you the very assets you need to survive the challenges you will face in life and business. Your job is to take what I teach, ponder on how it applies to you, and then put it in to practice. I find that many people don’t want to apply these principles because they want to move quickly in their businesses. They don’t want to take the time necessary to build a strong foundation and let it cure long enough to support what they create.  Because they are in a hurry, they won’t use the correct building blocks that won’t be blown over when the first strong wind comes into their business…as it always does. And then they wonder why they did not succeed and blame everyone but themselves!

• What I teach is not the ordinary. What I present to you is  a message of hope for you who feel frustrated by the trials of life and lack of successes that you hoped to achieve. I know you must be doubting your ability to ever be successful in business and to have the blessings in life that you and your family have dreamed of obtaining.  Now you crave success and those things in life you desire more than ever before. • You may feel like something is missing or is not exactly right in your life right now. I know why you feel that way. Allow me to help you develop the foundation and building blocks you need to obtain the most precious desires of your heart.

• You may already realize that, until now, your usual way of doing business is not working as well you would like. • You might be blaming the unfortunate events in your life as being  the reason for your circumstances. You can choose to do that, but the truth is we can always find a way to build a successful business during hard times. Regardless of circumstances, and if we know how, with commitment we can change our circumstances to be more positive and more as we desire. The difference is using techniques that work, doing the right things, and being willing to change what you are used to doing. We don’t like to change what we are used to, I know that, but resisting won’t change your circumstances will it?

Here’s Proof that what I teach works! Notice that I am not showing you how much money I make. Money is the bi-product of doing the right things. You can’t sell things and make money if you can’t draw people to you.  What you see is that I am successful at drawing people to me that want what I offer. They come to me without me having to solicit them.

Money is a challenge for some people, especially when they make it their God. My brother finally recognized that the more he chases after money the less he receives. Instead of money being attracted to him, it seems to repeal. Does this sound familiar to you?

Friends, money, relationships, love are all attracted toward you when you become the person you want to be and understand the principle described above. How have you been handling those moments in your life? What have you become? Is it the person you want to be or have you become someone you don’t like very much?

Being The Most of Your Ability

I enjoy some of the comments I get from leaders on Facebook.  When I find great messages that I think you will appreciate, I pass them on to you. This one came from Darnell Curtis that he sent a message to the members of http://www.facebook.com/l/06c34;YourNight.com.

To Your Night, Thought of the day Do not base your abilities on someone elses results, YOU MAY BE BETTER THAN THEM….


I completely agree with Darnell Curtis’ statement. We often put too much pressure on ourselves and our downline when we try to be like somebody else and try to do the work of somebody else. We are all unique. We have our own challenges and abilities, that are unique to us; they belong to us and no one else.

We need to be wise about our expectations and set goals according to accurate thinking* (I will cover this topic more at another time.) Remember that YOU are unique. There is no one like you.That is why you must only demand from yourself the things you have the power to affect, change, or control. Doing otherwise will frustrate you and those with whom you associate or do business.

Use the following guidelines when setting goals according to your aibilities:

  • Use Accurate Thinking. As you make plans for your future and set goals, do not buy into the hype that is often associated with Network Marketing or try to be like others you believe are successful.
  • Practice good work ethics, doing what you say you will do and follow through with the plans you’ve made.
  • Choose who you listen to: Listen to only people more interested in your success than in their own.
  • Keep your perspective in check. This mean you don’t try to run faster than you should and then fail because your perspective was out of whack.
  • Stay in balance. Examine your priorities to make sure you are in alignment with God and Success Principles in order to be successful in life and business.
  • Keep your priorities straight. Do only what you and your spouse have agreed upon as being important and will protect harmony in your life and home.
  • Do NOT chase after people. Allow them to come to you because they know you, you have what they want, and they want to do business with you. To do this, your mind needs to be thinking right, your priorities need to be in alignment, and you need to be balanced. When people feel that they are on your radar, they will run in the opposite direction. People need to know that you are there for them but they won’t believe it if you chase them.
  • Do NOT pretend to be successful or try to convince someone that you are a leader. True leaders just lead and don’t have to talk about being a leader. In other words, your actions speak louder than words. Doing what leaders do makes you a leader just as doing what successful people do leads to success. If you are not doing those things leaders and successful people do, then YOU ARE NOT a leader and you will not be successful.
  • Be yourself, unless you are not the type of person with whom you would want to do business or to be on the other side of a discussion or an invite. You would not be impressed with someone who talks too much, doesn’t look or act professional, or is pushy.
  • Take an inventory of your strengths and weaknesses. Work on improving yourself in the weak areas through positive motivation and then decide how to take advantages of your strengths.
  • Use your abilities to help those with whom you associate. When appropriate, offer to help someone FOR FREE and without strings attached or taking advantage of them. The more you share your abilities with people, the sharper your abilities become.
  • Make a difference in someone’s life; doing so builds self-worth. Notice that I said it builds self-worth and not self-esteem. Self-esteem is the result of how others interact with you and how they make you feel. On the other hand, self-worth is how you feel about yourself when you understand how you have added value to someone’s life.
  • Be true to yourself and the commitments you’ve made to yourself. You cannot allow people to steal your dreams, to keep you in a box or do things to prevent you have achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself. You need to love them for the value they contribute to your life and accept them for who they are, but you have to set healthy boundaries for them. Let them know you value their judgment and ask that they trust your judgment as well. If it’s a mistake then that’s the end result but you need to do it and see how far it takes you.

Being the most of your abilities means you fulfill the measure of your creation and strive to reach your full potential. What can be more satisfying than this?

Success Depends on You

Kevin Curtis left this message  for his facebook friends. I want to share this message with you because I see too many people rest on past laurels and think that will bring them successes in their businesses today.

“People park when they sit back and rest on past laurels; the mistake being that they allow over-confidence and past successes to cloud future rewards. This situation makes people lazy in their business dealings. They become board with their lives and fall victim to complacency.” ~ Judith Sherman

We cheat ourselves and our downline when we become complacent. There is little growth going on in our businesses and that’s a recipe for failure or for dropping out. Then, since our downline duplicate us, those we have sponsored will become complacent and possibly drop out as well.

To keep this from becoming a problem, we must learn to do something every day that keeps us motivated and hungry enough to grow our businesses. This is what I have done and why I was able to overcome tremendous hardship to succeed in publishing my book. I believe this situation is represented well in the story “Tortoise and the Hare”.

The tortoise is slow moving and takes a long time to get anywhere. On the other hand, the hare is very speedy. One day the tortoise and the hare were challenge to a race. The hare is expected to win because he is fast and the tortoise is so slow.

The hare ran fast and became tired, so he decided to lay down for a rest. At other times he would stop to play a little. The hare knew that, because he runs so fast, he can make up time and still win the race.

Although the tortoise may not be very fast, he just keeps trudging along. He does not stop to play or to rest because he takes the race seriously. He just keeps going, putting one foot in front of the other. The tortoise is slow, but nevertheless he won the race.

Do you see this same activity going on in your business?  Do you see some associates working their businesses at full speed and then tire so they take a break? Once they lose momentum, it is difficult to get it back and it takes more effort to regain the momentum lost.

Then there is the slow starting associate that doesn’t appear to be doing as much as you would like, but they always seem to reach their goals. They always seem to make sales and sponsor new associates every single month. This is the same principle demonstrated in the tortoise and the hare story. Putting one foot in front of the other every day, doing something meaningful in your business every day, reaps the rewards that come with success.

Working smart instead of working hard uses the same principle as the tortoise and the hare. Making contact with people in a friendly manner with no expectations will gain their trust and they know you will not bomb out on them. They will watch you for awhile to make sure you are serious about your business and the relationship you develop with them. If they do not like what they see, they won’t give you the time of day. Then, once they see that you are trustworthy, they will be loyal to you as long as you are in business.

If you want to be like the hare, you need to be doing something else as well to help you keep up the momentum and not tire easily. Otherwise, you WILL lose faith when things don’t happen as quickly as you expect.  Also, you will grow tired and weary from the pace and need to take a rest. As the hare discovered, rest breaks can cause you to lose. Someone else will come by and pick up where you left off, and you will have no one but YOU to blame.

My advice is to pace yourself with a steady application of effort and working smart, improving your skills through education, and taking time for relaxation. Allow people to know you better and to develop a good relationship with them. It takes time to develop healthy relationships and to earn loyalty. People need to know that their relationship with you is worth more to you than money or what you can earn from their business.

Understanding Success Principles

I often follow Mike Dillard’s teaching, a very successful author and Network Marketer. Mike Dillard is the author of “Magnetic Sponsoring”, a very successful teaching program that has helped tens of thousands of people.

One principle Mike Dillard teaches is that there are Alpha and Beta type of people.

  • An Alpha person goes out and makes opportunities for their future.
  • A Beta person sits inside his or her cave and hopes things will get better.
  • The question is “Are you an Alpha or a Beta type of person?”
  • In other words, Do you have a strong desire to change your situation and then go out and do what Beta’s are reluctant to do?
  • Once you’ve made the decision to be an Alpha, do you know how to go about being an Alpha person?
  • If you have a basic idea about how to be an Alpha but would like to know more, you should keep in touch with my postings.

You can gather leads the “Old Fashion Way” by Cold Contacting people. This means you meet people that you did not know before and start up a conversation with them. You need to go to places where people gather (at the Mall, the park, church, social gatherings, grocery stores, car repair places) and begin a conversation with them. The conversation should cover the F.O.R.M. questions.

R recreation/travel, do they have places they want to go and boats or RV’s they want to buy

M message that you can help them with the concerns and desires they’ve mentioned

F.O.R.M. WILL BACKFIRE IF YOU ARE INSINCERE AND COME OFF AS A SALESMAN.

People don’t want to be sold but they do want to buy. They will buy what you want them to when you allow them to sell themselves. They will buy your marketing plan or products when they see the value in it for themselves, how it will improve their lives, and how they can do it. In other words, it’s their idea to join your organization or to buy your products or service.

THE NEW WAY, THE SMARTER WAY WILL BE TO ATTRACT PEOPLE THAT WANT WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER. They have already made the decision to look or they would not have found you on the Internet. Your job is to convince them to look at your offer. You do that with a good Contact Page that allows them to get the gist of what you are doing and how they benefit. They will then fill out the form for you to contact them.

Do you see the value in contacting people the second way? People are already looking for you, they already want to buy, and all they need is a reason to contact you and not someone else. Your job is to give them that reason.

The second suggestion is a much better way to contact people. The old way is really nothing short of solicitation, which is why people get so irritated when you talk to them, why they don’t want to hear about opportunities and plans, and why they seem to run the other way when you talk to them. Likely, they were not thinking of what you can offer them and they were not in the mindset to buy.

Obviously, your rate of success increases when you contact people who are already looking, already prepared for your message, and already to buy what you offer. What more can you ask for? Do your job and give them a reason to contact you.
