Why Downline Do Not Perform

Posted by

businessmen_talking

Upline in network marketing often put a lot of pressure on downline to perform, especially when someone stops producing or begins to give excuses. Because a person seems uncommitted or confused about what he or she really wants, an upline will often drop working with him or her all together because it isn’t worth the time. It’s just “The Nature of the Beast” for most Network Marketers. It’s a sad story, but one I hear over and over again.

The problem here is that many upline do not take the time to understand why people quit producing. In fact, they view excuses as non-committal or lazy. Let’s talk about why someone may stop producing in a Network Marketing business.

  • They do not have the same work ethics as their upline.
  • They do not have a reason to do the work. In other words, they have no “WOW”.
  • They need more personal time to work on their fears with an upline who understands their issues.
  • They see holes in the plan or they do not understand the plan well enough.
  • They have heard negativity from family and friends and so they are losing faith in the system.
  • They have big egos and think success should happen quickly, and so they won’t wait for it.
  • They focus on their sales skills instead of what their prospects want and help them at that level.
  • They make mistakes so they are too embarrassed to go forward and quit.
  • They do not believe they can be successful.
  • Lack of money to support their businesses, limiting their ability to work the business effectively.
  • They have run out of names on their list.
  • They lose the vision of why they started the business in the first place.
  • They won’t accept trainning and try to go off on their own. They learn just enough to be dangerous to themselves and the people they talk to.

Do any of these reasons sound familiar to you? If so, you need to discuss it with your upline. Tell your sponsor how you feel and ask for their help. Upline cannot help you if they do not know your problem.

Another issue might be that you do not trust your sponsor to teach you what you need to know. You look upline for someone you feel comfortable to work with and deal with your problems. This can cause friction between you and your sponsor as well as your upline and sponsor.

May I suggest that you not bypass your sponsor, especially when you think you are too important to work with him or her and think you need to work with someone more impressive. Yes, people really do think like this all the time in Network Marketing.

You may be tempted to go upline because you like the success you see higher up and think it is better to work with them instead of someone who is almost as new as you. Keep in mind that the people you want to work with upline instead of your sponsor did not bring the opportunity to you. The one who thought of you deserves your respect. If you want to work with your upline, be sure that your sponsor is included in any meetings you have with them. Any upline that’s worth taking advice from will understand this principle and support it.

If you cannot find answers you want from your upline, feel free to contact me with your questions. Please do not contact me until you have tried to work out things with your upline and then let them help you.

Success Depends on You

Posted by

Be of good cheer. Do not think of today’s failures, but of success that may come tomorrow. You have set yourselves a difficult task, but you will succeed if you persevere; and you will have a joy in overcoming obstacles—a delight in climbing rugged paths which you would perhaps never know if you did not sometimes slip backward, if the road were always smooth and pleasant. Remember, no effort that we make to attain something beautiful is ever lost. ~ Helen Keller.

Kevin Curtis left this message  for his facebook friends. I want to share this message with you because I see too many people rest on past laurels and think that will bring them successes in their businesses today.

“People park when they sit back and rest on past laurels; the mistake being that they allow over-confidence and past successes to cloud future rewards. This situation makes people lazy in their business dealings. They become board with their lives and fall victim to complacency.” ~ Judith Sherman

We cheat ourselves and our downline when we become complacent. There is little growth going on in our businesses and that’s a recipe for failure or for dropping out. Then, since our downline duplicate us, those we have sponsored will become complacent and possibly drop out as well.

To keep this from becoming a problem, we must learn to do something every day that keeps us motivated and hungry enough to grow our businesses. This is what I have done and why I was able to overcome tremendous hardship to succeed in publishing my book. I believe this situation is represented well in the story “Tortoise and the Hare”.

The tortoise is slow moving and takes a long time to get anywhere. On the other hand, the hare is very speedy. One day the tortoise and the hare were challenge to a race. The hare is expected to win because he is fast and the tortoise is so slow.

The hare ran fast and became tired, so he decided to lay down for a rest. At other times he would stop to play a little. The hare knew that, because he runs so fast, he can make up time and still win the race.

Although the tortoise may not be very fast, he just keeps trudging along. He does not stop to play or to rest because he takes the race seriously. He just keeps going, putting one foot in front of the other. The tortoise is slow, but nevertheless he won the race.

Do you see this same activity going on in your business?  Do you see some associates working their businesses at full speed and then tire so they take a break? Once they lose momentum, it is difficult to get it back and it takes more effort to regain the momentum lost.

Then there is the slow starting associate that doesn’t appear to be doing as much as you would like, but they always seem to reach their goals. They always seem to make sales and sponsor new associates every single month. This is the same principle demonstrated in the tortoise and the hare story. Putting one foot in front of the other every day, doing something meaningful in your business every day, reaps the rewards that come with success.

Working smart instead of working hard uses the same principle as the tortoise and the hare. Making contact with people in a friendly manner with no expectations will gain their trust and they know you will not bomb out on them. They will watch you for awhile to make sure you are serious about your business and the relationship you develop with them. If they do not like what they see, they won’t give you the time of day. Then, once they see that you are trustworthy, they will be loyal to you as long as you are in business.

If you want to be like the hare, you need to be doing something else as well to help you keep up the momentum and not tire easily. Otherwise, you WILL lose faith when things don’t happen as quickly as you expect.  Also, you will grow tired and weary from the pace and need to take a rest. As the hare discovered, rest breaks can cause you to lose. Someone else will come by and pick up where you left off, and you will have no one but YOU to blame.

My advice is to pace yourself with a steady application of effort and working smart, improving your skills through education, and taking time for relaxation. Allow people to know you better and to develop a good relationship with them. It takes time to develop healthy relationships and to earn loyalty. People need to know that their relationship with you is worth more to you than money or what you can earn from their business.

I would like to build a relationship with you as well through my postings. But that relationship has to go two ways. So this means I welcome your stories regarding the principles discussed in this article or about anything else you would like to share or ask me. You may leave a comment in the box below.

Parking In Your Business

PARKING AT A LEVEL OF SUCCESS KILLS A BUSINESS

I’ve discovered that one of the greatest enemies to success is reaching a certain level and then parking.  Success becomes stagnate when people park themselves and stay there instead of setting new goals and continuing to grow.

People park when they sit back and rest on past laurels; the mistake being that they allow over-confidence and past successes to cloud future rewards. This situation makes people lazy in their business dealings. Inevitably, they become board with their lives and fall victim to complacency.

Another problem with parking is it sets up people for a nose-dive when the tide changes, as it often does. As such, it behooves successfull people to continue setting goals to keep them feeling alive and staying active. Staying active doesn’t have to mean making more money or reaching a higher level of completion. Staying active means setting goals that make your life mean something more than just making money.

A stagnant situation happens in business when people stop dreaming, stop reaching for goals, and stop growing in their businesses! This is NOT good! I’ve been around a number of success- oriented people over the past thirty years, and I’ve seen this situation happen frequently. Lack of planning for “what’s next” is the main reason people park.

Another reason people park is they do not want to become too big of a business and make too much money. They have various reasons for feeling this way and that is okay. Not everyone wants to become mega-successful and receive mega-income from it. As long as their reasons do NOT include they are complacent and have stopped dreaming, it is okay to not reach for higher levels. However, to maintain a healthy business and downline, people must never stop dreaming and growing their businesses.

To have a healthy organization, there must be a constant flow of new blood coming into the business. New people make a healthy organization because they come in full of belief and excitement. This motivates downline and keeps upline busy and excited so their businesses keep growing as well. Any business doing otherwise become stagnant and will stop growing.

You cheat your own business and your organization when you do not have new people coming into your business and when you stop dreaming. Your downline will duplicate you. So when you stop growing, so will they.

I suggest you read the article “What’s Next” in order to protect your business. I welcome your comments on this subject and would love to hear your stories.

Understanding Success Principles

Posted by

I often follow Mike Dillard’s teaching, a very successful author and Network Marketer. Mike Dillard is the author of “Magnetic Sponsoring”, a very successful teaching program that has helped tens of thousands of people.

One principle Mike Dillard teaches is that there are Alpha and Beta type of people.

  • An Alpha person goes out and makes opportunities for their future.
  • A Beta person sits inside his or her cave and hopes things will get better.
  • The question is “Are you an Alpha or a Beta type of person?”
  • In other words, Do you have a strong desire to change your situation and then go out and do what Beta’s are reluctant to do?
  • Once you’ve made the decision to be an Alpha, do you know how to go about being an Alpha person?
  • If you have a basic idea about how to be an Alpha but would like to know more, you should keep in touch with my postings.

Also, I invite you to join me at http://ILDAssociate.Com for more information on this topic and other business leadership training.

ILD Global is an organization that not only teaches how to be a leader and happy in life’s successes and failures, but also how to develop the characteristics that successful people need to be happy.

My experience and expertise are based on the leadership training I received from ILD experts in the Network Marketing field. They are great examples of being a good leader, a good spouse and parent, and a good person in society. How many training sessions have you been to where they teach these traits? I doubt that there have been many, if any training such as I just described.

The focus of ILD Associated is on teaching people how to develop personal character and integrity in their business dealings. These qualities develop lasting relationships with associates and clients that generate loyalty and quality friendships.

When we understand the principles that make us happy and feel joy in our souls, then we can live a quality and satisfied life–whether we succeed or fail in the business ventures that we choose.

We will all fail, at one point or another, before we learn what works. This is all part of maturing and growing emotionally and spiritually. However, what really matters is how we handle our failures and successes. This is what makes us who we are, and contributes to being satisfied with who we are! I am pleased with the person I have become. Can you say the same?

I Will Not Be Denied

Posted by

Being an author of The Treasure Box Series, Volume I: Peace, Joy, and Happiness brought me a lot of new challenges and obstacles to overcome.

When you step out of the box and do something different, people try to put you back into the box because they do not know how to respond to you anymore. Because people do not easily welcome “CHANGE” they will do all they can to keep you in a box or stuff you back into it.

Those who know you have a hard time accepting you as an authority about any thing and may not always support your dreams and aspirations. It is at this time that find ourselves challenged about sticking it through and becoming who we think we ought to be and do what we believe in our soul that we ought to do.

Listen to these videos and relate my experiences to yours. Perhaps you will benefit from my story, if nothing more than to find it amusing.
